The Best Blender: Vitamix 780

The Best Blender: Vitamix 780

Over the past six months I’ve been trying to eat healthier. As you know it is harder to prepare healthy meals especially when you are busy. So I took my chance and tried my hand with blended meals. To start out, I have gotten a cheap blender to make my smoothie, green juice, acai bowls, and occasionally milkshakes. Oddly, the machine will only last for one month since the blender will start to overheat and sometimes smoke can be seen. I’m not exactly sure as to why the machine breaks so easily (maybe because of the price or quality) but I follow the instructions carefully for the blender, but still no luck. However, I recently met a group of people from my soulcycle class last week and they recommended me to get a Vitamix.

In search for one, I ended up purchasing the new model Vitamix 780 and it is very easy to use. Apparently, this is the first Vitamix blender that has a LED touchscreen control panel. When I took it out of the box it looked very modern and professional. The Vitamix 780 has 5 different settings which are Smoothie, Frozen Dessert, Soup, and Puree, plus the Pulse feature. It also has the Clean button where the machine can actually self-clean when this setting is activated. The blender has 10 different speed settings which the blade can go as fast as 270 mph (2.2 horsepower). It comes with a 64-oz low profile container which is big enough to serve a whole entire family and at the same time it is less bulky which would not take a lot of space in the kitchen. Overall, I love this blender since it not only makes juices, smoothies, and acai bowls but it can also make healthy soups for a meal. You just need to cut the ingredients and then put in the blender and the machine will do everything for you. Furthermore, the consistency and texture of the final product is absolutely perfect. While using the blender, I noticed that it was less noisy than my previous cheap blenders which surprised me since I have always associated powerful machines with being noisey. Also the clean up is super easy since there are no separate parts to dismantle and again it is self-cleaning which is a huge bonus. The only thing that I do not like about this product is that it is not dishwasher friendly.

Regardless, the blender comes with a 7-year warranty which is very reassuring since if the blender ever breaks down within those years I can easily return the product to Vitamix and have it replaced or repaired at no cost.  The company will also even pay for shipping (both ways) which is highly convenient. Given these points, I have a feeling that this machine will last me for quite some time and highly recommend it to anyone who is look for a blender. I just wish I had purchased the Vitamix 780 sooner…

Why Should You Give Someone A Lé Creuset Dutch Oven

Why Should You Give Someone A Lé Creuset Dutch Oven

Searching for a gift is always a hassle for me since I am usually very picky especially if the gift is for someone that I care for. With Mother’s Day is coming up, I did not know what to give for my mother; that is until I attended this family gathering. A few weeks ago, I went to an Easter party that my cousin hosted. The party was small which only consisted of immediate family members. For the party, she had cooked some of her delicious food that everyone loved. Although the food was delicious, what caught my eye was how she presented her food. Her special dish was placed in this beautiful dutch oven pot (I did not know what they were called so at first I thought it was just a pot) that was in a shade of baby pink color with cherry blossoms in it.

It also somehow kept the dish warm even though there was no source of heat that can be seen. Before I left the party, I talked to her and eventually asked her what her pot was. It turned out to be a Lé Creuset, which was the first time I have ever heard of the brand since I rarely cook. That night, I decided to search online to see where I can find purchase one. I found them at this website which was very convenient since there were many different sizes and they also sold different types of cookware from pots to skillets, but the main thing was that they were all made of out enamel cast iron. Lé Creuset, a cookware company that started out in France, specialized in enameled cast iron cookware. This type of cookware can apparently keep temperatures even while cooking and that their super tight lids keeps the moisture in; in other words, this will make your cooking experience and the food better. Learning this information, I was more eager to purchase one for myself.  While I was searching, I suddenly got the idea that I should gift one to my mother for this Mother’s Day. There were so many colors to choose from that it overwhelmed me from choosing the right one.

In the end, I decided to pick a dutch oven in the color, Provence for my mother which will hopefully remind her of that summer fragrant lavender bush in our yard. As for myself, I ended up ordering the color, Marseille which was perfect because of the color and it’s very multifunctional.

Ever since I have received my dutch oven, I have learned to bake bread, braise meat and cook soup/stews. Furthermore, the biggest advantage was that I do not have to use a different container to make my food presentable, the pot itself will do that for you. This product will create a positive attention whenever I have some visitors. From this, I’m sure that my mother will like too and use this to cook as well as showcase her food in it.

My In-home Barista

My In-home Barista

In the mornings, I don’t like getting up early to make coffee, neither do I like to line up and wait for my coffee at my nearest Starbucks or any branded coffee shop that are overpriced. In the past, I’ve bought myself countless types of basic coffee machines, but the end product never satisfies my taste buds. I’ve talk to my friends who are coffee fanatics and they had recommended me this machine called the Jura Z6. I’ve searched online and I finally bought one from this website. At first, I was overwhelmed with the price because it was a little bit expensive. I was also skeptical because I did not want to invest in something that would not last me long. However, I ended up loving the Jura Z6. It is like having your own personal barista at home. The machine is what you would call “bean to cup” machine. You would put the bean in the designated container and with a single touch from the screen you will be able to make the drink that you instantly want from the machine’s menu (yes, the machine can make various different types of coffee recipes, but I’ll have to blog about that for another time).

The best part is that this machine comes with a mobile app, so you can make your coffee without being in front of the machine (just make sure you don’t forget to put in a cup). As for maintenance all you have to do is replace the water and milk daily and you're all set. So now, before I go to bed, I would put in the beans, milk if it’s low, and in a mug to collect my coffee. In the mornings, I would just use my phone to go to the Jura app, press the button to activate the machine to make coffee, and when it signals me that it is ready, I walk to the machine with my freshly brewed hot coffee. Yum.
